BATU PAHAT: Chinese High School Batu Pahat (CHSBP) is poised to introduce a comprehensive AI curriculum, weaving advanced technologies into educational system of Chinese independent school, and unlocking new avenues in technological innovation for students.

Following in-depth dialogue and consultation with Zhong Cheng and Li Liang, AI education experts from China’s “doctorpai”, the school has formally announced the introduction of the curriculum.

The AI curriculum encompasses a breadth of trending technologies, including computer vision, intelligent voice recognition, and natural language processing. The curriculum is uniquely structured not just to provide students with an immersive understanding of AI’s impact on daily life but also to offer a stage-by-stage set of hands-on and design & development courses. This curriculum is specifically tailored to enhance students’ practical skills and to nurture their comprehensive capability to work alongside AI in analytical and problem-solving contexts.

Two Classes Per Week, Covering Four Core Categories

Chinese High School’s carefully crafted AI curriculum consists of two weekly classes, each lasting 35 minutes, spanning four fundamental categories. This ensures students attain a comprehensive understanding and practical experience in AI technology.

The curriculum’s “General Education” course delves into the theoretical aspects of AI, offering students a broad perspective on AI’s historical context, foundational principles, pivotal technologies, and fields of application. These sessions are designed to build a comprehensive and systematic understanding of AI, setting the groundwork for advanced studies.

The “Experiential Learning” course allows students to directly engage with AI models’ operational principles and real-world applications. Through vivid examples and interactive exercises, students will explore the practical implications of AI, thereby deepening their appreciation and understanding of its potential.

The “Practical Application” course aims to engage students in hands-on activities, assembling and troubleshooting AI models in groups. Through this actual assembly process, students can integrate theoretical knowledge with practical skills and learn the significance of teamwork and problem-solving.

The “Design & Development” course focuses on leveraging various educational kits and the Python programming language to activate and control AI model. Students will learn to code, enabling AI models to perform specific tasks, which is a critical phase in fostering their programming skills and innovative thinking.

Form 1 Students Begin Their AI Learning Journey

Looking ahead to next year, Chinese High School plans to initiate this AI learning journey starting with first-year students through key courses themed “AI Experience Camp” and “Python Basics 1”.

These courses not only spark students' interest in AI but also build a strong foundation for their future learning, nurturing their innovative spirit and technological skills, fully preparing them for the AI era.

The “AI Experience Camp” leads students through an experiential learning experience in AI. They will gain firsthand experience with practical applications such as voice and image recognition and engaging in basic programming tasks.

“Python Basics 1,” with its focus on the Python programming language, recognized for being learner-friendly, straightforward, and easy-to-understand, serves as an important tool in AI applications.

The school’s AI curriculum planning will build a comprehensive learning journey. Students will start from the first year and gradually advance to Form 5 level. Students who take AI classes will be charged an additional RM 20 every month.
