BATU PAHAT: Chinese High School Batu Pahat (CHSBP) has announced the introduction of a brand-new AI curriculum, setting the stage for next year's first-year students to embark on their AI learning adventure through two key courses: “AI Experience Camp” and “Python Basics 1.”

Following in-depth level dialogues and consultations with AI education specialists Zhong Cheng and Li Liang from China's “doctorpai”, the school has announced the introduction of cutting-edge AI technology into the curriculum of Chinese independent school, heralding a new era of technological innovation for the institution.

A Monthly Fee of 20 Ringgit

Principal Soo Boon Teong elaborated that the school’s AI curriculum is designed to offer a comprehensive educational journey, beginning from the first year and progressively advancing through to Form 5. Students enrolled in the monthly AI courses will incur an additional charge of 20 ringgit.

The “AI Experience Camp” allows students to delve into and engage with AI technologies, including hands-on operation of AI tools such as voice and image recognition systems, along with introductory programming activities to foster essential AI awareness and enhance their understanding of AI technologies. “The curriculum also covers the essential concepts of AI, its application domains, as well as the workflow and real-world applications of the relevant technologies.”

“For first-year students, the school has planned two sessions per week, each lasting 35 minutes, encompassing four core areas: general education, experiential learning, practical application, and design & development courses,” he explained.

“AI Experience Camp” will lead students to experience AI technology, let them work on voice recognition, image recognition and other AI products, carry out simple programming activities, get them initiated on AI awareness and enhance their receptivity to AI technology.

“The course content also includes basic AI concepts, application areas, related technology workflows, and real-life applications.”

Foster Interest in Coding

“Python Basics 1,” with its focus on the Python programming language, recognized for being learner-friendly, straightforward, and easy-to-understand, serves as an important tool in AI applications. The course will focus on the mastery and application of Python basic syntax, stimulating students’ interest in learning Python.

“Students will acquire programming knowledge, including variables, branching structures, loops, and lists, by engaging in projects like intelligent voice technology, face recognition applications, and drowsiness detection program development. This hands-on approach aims to simultaneously foster a keen interest in programming and AI among the students.”
